Edgar Andrew Cox, 82

McDERMOTT, OH — Edgar Andrew Cox, 82, of McDermott, Ohio passed away June 12, 2016.   He was born July 1, 1933 in the Village of Rome (Adams Co), Oh, to the late Roy Olive Cox and Dorothy Florence (Hoskins) Cox.

Ed began his legacy as a laborer for Peter Kiewit, working his way up to a superintendent, while traveling throughout the United States constructing major bridges and highways.  In early 1970 he continued his legacy when he formed Cox Construction Company (later known as EA Cox, Inc.) which he continued to build through the early 80’s.  He then decided it was time to move on, sold the business and started a Gravely Tractor Sales which he operated for a few years.  Ed continued his legacy when he formed Cox Backhoe Service where he actively worked throughout the remainder of his life.  He was a member (50+ yrs.) of the Masonic Lodge #581 in Peebles, Oh.

Ed was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He was known as a kind, hard-working, honest and humble man.  He was loved by all those who met him and was always willing to lend an extra hand asking for nothing in return.  Ed loved classic cars, antiques and the outdoors.   Most of all he loved his family and spending time with them.  Heaven has gained a True Angel and Ed will be missed by all who knew him.

Ed was preceded in death by his Parents, one brother Paul Cox and one sister Marilyn (Cox) Smith.

Surviving are his wife Patricia Ann (Ruhlman) Cox whom he married, April 28, 1962 and whom he has spent the last 54 years of his life with.  Also surviving are four children, Lori (Roger) Hawk, Bryan (Deirdre) Cox, Amy Cox and Erin Cox all of McDermott, Oh, eight grandchildren Brandon Justice, Mark Justice, Brittany Cox, Courtney Cox, Travis Reedy, Ryan Caudill, Chase Garrett and Evan Garrett, one brother, Norman Cox of Peebles, OH, one sister, Shelby (Cox) Kratzer of Otway, Oh and his little dog Sugar.
