Elmer E. Shepherd, 83

Elmer E. Shepherd, 83 of West Portsmouth died Friday April 8, 2016 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born December 14, 1932 in Scioto County to the late Arlond and Virgie Wireman Shepherd. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and retired from Martin Marietta. He was a member of the James Dickey Post 23 American, Nauvoo Masonic Lodge # 769, Scottish Rite 32 Degree Mason, York Rite, Knight Templar and a member of Dry Run Church of Christ. Along with his parents Elmer was preceded in death by a brother Ray Edwin “Ed” Shepherd and a sister Bonnie Frazier.

Elmer is survived by his wife Lorraine E. Dodridge Shepherd who he married on October 27, 1951, a son David E. (Linda) Shepherd of McDermott, 2 grandchildren Tina Shepherd of Columbus and Scott Shepherd of West Portsmouth, 2 great grandchildren Nathan and Nicky Shepherd, 2 sisters Carolyn Andrews and Joyce (Charles) Stamper all of McDermott.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday April 12, 2016 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Mark Seevers officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park with graveside military rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8:00 PM on Monday and one hour prior to service on Tuesday.
