James Paul "Jim" Thompson, 82

James Paul "Jim" Thompson, 82, of Portsmouth, OH, died Monday, April 24th, 2017 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born August 19th, 1934, the son of the late Henry and Mayme Thompson. Jim was General Manager of the Barq's-RC Bottling Company, a Sales Representative of BP and a Business Owner. He was a Kentucky Colonel, and active in the Portsmouth Elks, Nauvoo Masonic Lodge and Sons of American Legionnaires. Along with his parents, Jim is preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Howard, a brother, Terry Miller and five sisters, Patty Hileman, Alfreda Coriell, Kathy Prince, Suzie Spears and Terry Stone.

Jim is survived by his wife, Elva Rose Day Thompson, whom he married November 21st, 1952, three sons, Paul Douglas Thompson of Oak Harbor, OH, Daniel Ray Thompson of West Portsmouth, OH and Derek James Thompson of Lehigh Acres, FL, a daughter, Babette Suzanne Brickey of Grove City, OH, two brothers, Butch Thacker of Portsmouth, OH and Tim Thacker of Zanesville, OH, two sisters, Kay Caruso of Grand Rapids, MI and Jane Redding of Rosemount, OH, five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The West Portsmouth Youth Sports Complex, 1420 13th ST, West Portsmouth, OH 45663 in Jim's name.
