Juanita Bell Hicks, 81

Juanita Bell Hicks, 81 of Friendship, died Monday August 22, 2016 at SOMC Hospice. She was born November 26, 1934 in Portsmouth to the late Ernest and Bertha Evans Givens. She was a homemaker. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Donald Ray Hicks, 3 brothers; Elmer, Eugene, and Eddie Givens, 4 sisters; Mary Bentley, Sadie Sowards, Helen Keefer, and Joyce Ann Givens.

Juanita is survived by 5 daughters; Cathy (Joe) Shaw of Friendship, Sandy (Everett) Pollard of Portsmouth, Dona (Chris) Dunham of Friendship, Penny Hicks-Piatt of Portsmouth, and Tami (Thomas) Carter of Saranac Lake, New York, a sister; Alma Abbott of Proctorville, Ohio, 9 grandchildren; Tiffany Pistole, Joshua Hicks, Megan Coffey, Chris Dunham, Brandan Dunham, Amber Chamblin, Erin Coffey, Lisa Carter, and Nathan Carter, 7 great grandchildren; Lily, Fiona, Owen, Micah, Brenlynn, Arabella, and Ysilla, and another one on the way, 2 very special friends; Janet Bukiewicz and Polly Richmond.

Funeral services will be 12:00 PM Friday, August 26, 2016 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with David Sibole officiating and internment in Friendship Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8:00 PM on Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
