Roy Edward York, 85
Roy Edward York, 85 of West Portsmouth, died Saturday September 10, 2016 at the home of his son. He was born July 18, 1931 in Lewis County, Kentucky, to the late Charles H. and Myrtle Fulkner York. He was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. Roy was retired from Southern Ohio Correctional Facility and was also a Barber. He was a member of the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion, Nauvoo Masonic Lodge #769, New Boston Eagles and was a 32nd Degree Mason. Along with his parents Roy was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Yeager York, who he married March 14, 1953.
Roy is survived by 2 sons; Phillip (Cheryl) York of McDermott and Scott York of West Portsmouth, a brother David York of Sandusky, a sister Maxine Horton of Portsmouth, 3 grandchildren; Ashley Johnson, Katelyn York and Karlee York, along with 2 great grandchildren; McKayla and Hadley Johnson.
Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon Tuesday September 13, 2016 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Reverend Peter Michael officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military graveside rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8:00 PM on Monday. A Masonic service will be held at 8:00 PM on Monday by Nauvoo Masonic Lodge #769. The SOCF Honor Guard will provide and Honor Detail at the funeral home.
