Thomas M. Henry, 72

Thomas M. Henry, 72 of Bolivar, Ohio formerly of Portsmouth died Sunday August 28, 2016 at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio due to complications following heart surgery. He was born October 25, 1943 in Portsmouth to the late James Beecher and Thelma Lee Hileman Henry. After putting himself through college working for N&W railroad, he married Susan and moved to Canton, where he and his family lived for over 40 years. Eventually he settled in Bolivar, OH.

Tom was a proud Vietnam veteran, received his bachelor’s degree from Ohio University, achieved a master’s degree in Industrial Safety from Marshall University, and eventually retired from OSHA after 27 years of distinguished service. Tom regularly attended St. John UCC Church in Bolivar. He was first-and-foremost a family man. Tom was a loving husband, wonderful father and faithful friend. When he was not spending time with his wife, he enjoyed collecting Roy Rogers and Hopalong Cassidy memorabilia. He was a certified instructor and master diver, and he loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle anytime the weather would permit.

Tom is survived by his wife, Susan, of 47 years, their two children, Tom and Elise, his sister Zelda Sissel, brother-in-law Steve Sissel, son-in-law David J. Van Ausdall and many nieces and nephews. His older brother David J Henry is deceased.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday September 1, 2016 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Reverend David E. Houdeschell officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park with graveside military rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion.
