Zelphia Juanita (Elliott) Reynolds, 85

Zelphia Juanita (Elliott) Reynolds, 85, formerly of West Portsmouth, passed peacefully in her sleep on Thursday March 31, 2016 after a long battle with Ovarian Cancer at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Albany, Ohio where she had made her home since last year. She was born May 20, 1930 to the late Neal and Leona Elliott in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. She was married almost 60 years to the late Robert O. (Bob) Reynolds who preceded her in death on May 30, 2015. Zelphia was retired from the Health Care field where she worked as a Nurse’s Aide at the former Golden Years Convalescent Center, the former Portsmouth Receiving Hospital, and retired as a Home Health Aide. Early in the 1950’s she and her sister operated the Blue Ribbon Snack Shop on Chillicothe Street in Portsmouth. She was a member of the Portsmouth Baptist Church since 1970.

Zel is survived by two sons, Neal (Cel) of Albany, Ohio and Mike of Moscow, Idaho, granddaughters, Nichole and Natasha, two great-grandsons, and her sister, Marlene Thomas of Bluffton, Indiana. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and two “adopted” sons, Dave (Teresa) Johnson of Portsmouth and Ralph (Jennifer) Royce of Knoxville, Tennessee. In addition to her parents and husband, Zel was preceded in death by her brother, James Elliott and three sisters, Lovell Elliott, Gladys Arthurs, and Geneva Hitt.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Rev. Mike Phillips officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park.
