James Daniel Tackett, 88

James Daniel “JD” Tackett, 88, of Lucasville, died Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at his home. He was born November 9, 1929 in West Portsmouth to the late Franklin Pierce and Jimsey Marie Conley Tackett. He was a United States Army veteran and was a retired carpenter and welder and was a member of Carpenters Local 437. He was also member of Big Run United Baptist Church, Ruffed Grouse Society and North American Hunters Association. J.D. loved hunting, fishing and reading. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings; Sylvia Tackett, Norman Tackett, Pierce Edwin Tackett, Ray Edward Lee Tackett, Orville Franklin Tackett, Laura Elizabeth Johnson and Eula May Montgomery.

JD is survived by his wife of 65 years, Edith Eveline Howard Tackett, who he married on July 26, 1952, 3 sons; Anthony Lee Tackett of Lucasville, James Daniel (Karen) Tackett Jr. and Aaron Tackett all of Colorado Springs CO., 6 daughters; Elaine (Bob) Edmisten of West Union, Dainelle Tackett of Lucasville, Laura (Bruce) Meyer, Nikki (Gene) Payne and Tara (David) Dryden all of Manchester and Heather (Brad) South of Rarden, a brother; Rufus (Marita) Tackett of Lucasville and a 2 sisters; Betty Faye Phipps of Lucasville and Judy Phipps of Newark, 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday November 21, 2017 at Big Run United Baptist Church with Junior Murray and Charlie Montgomery officiating. Interment will be in Big Run Cemetery. Friends may call at the Church on Monday from 4 to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday starting at 10:00am. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth.
