Sylvia Frances “Fran” Smith, 80

Sylvia Frances “Fran” McGraw Smith, 80 of West Portsmouth, died Thursday March 16, 2017 at her home. She was born June 7, 1936 in Scioto County to the late Joseph Edward McGraw and Evelyn Jackson McGraw Flannery. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Albert Smith and a sister, Ruth Knauff. She worked as a nurse at Southern Ohio Medical Center in ER and ICU for 30 years, taught paramedics at Shawnee State University, was a school nurse for 10 years at Portsmouth West Middle School and High School, a member of the Order of The Eastern Star, Raven Rock Ladies Club, and attended Nauvoo United Methodist Church.

Fran is survived by a son, Robert (Leigh Ann) Holsinger Jr. of Wheelersburg, 2 daughters; Barbara (Ed) Ingles of West Portsmouth and Kim (Glenn) Sparks of Moore Haven, FL., 2 brothers; James (Diane) McGraw and David (Donna) McGraw both of West Portsmouth, a sister, Bernice (Jerry) Newman of West Portsmouth, 5 grandchildren; Erica (Seth) McDermott, Shane (Beth) Ingles, Rob (Amy) Holsinger, Ashley (Jarrod) Harmon, and Branch Doll, 8 great grandchildren; Jay Holsinger, Drew Holsinger, Emma Holsinger, Sydney McDermott, Rylee McDermott, Carter Ingles, Clara Harmon, and Daphne Harmon.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Pastor Pete Shaffer officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7:00 PM on Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday. An Eastern Star Services will be held at 7:00 PM on Sunday. The family requests that donations be made to SOMC Hospice and Southern Ohio Shrine Club in Fran’s name. The family would like to thank Hospice Nurse, Monica Holbrook for her special care.
