William O. “Bill” Nichols, 86

William O. “Bill” Nichols, 86 of West Portsmouth, died Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Southern Ohio Medical Center.  He was born December 21, 1930 in Otway, Ohio to the late Ora and Vesta Brown Nichols.  He worked at Williams Manufacturing then became an Auditor for the State of Ohio Workers Compensation where he retired.  He was a member of Portsmouth Elks Lodge #154, Elks Country Club and the National Rifle Association. 

Along with his parents Bill was preceded in death by his wife Joan Cooley Nichols whom he married on July 1, 1949, 2 sisters; Donna Jean Harrison and Shirley Hopkins.

Bill is survived by 2 sons; William (Becky) Nichols of Wheelersburg and Brad (Jane) Nichols of West Portsmouth, a daughter, Barbie (Brett) Walker of West Portsmouth, a brother; Robert (Betty) Nichols of Portsmouth, a sister Judy Liston of Newark, 3 grandchildren; Amy (Rob) Holsinger, Brad Nichols Jr., and Laci (Josh) Simpson, 6 great grandchildren; Jay, Drew, and Emma Holsinger, Shaelee Nichols, Easton and Cameron Simpson, along with a special friend, Wanda Heller, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with interment in Scioto Burial Park.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8:00 PM on Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the West Portsmouth Youth Sports Complex 1420 13th Street West Portsmouth, OH 45663.
