Arietta Wright, 82, of West Portsmouth died Saturday, June 5, 2004.  Arietta was born February 4, 1922 in West Portsmouth to the late John E and Lena Neeley Shepherd.  She was a homemaker.

Arietta was preceded in death by her husband William Raymond Wright.  She is survived by a daughter Trenda  (Darell) Charland of West Portsmouth, a step daughter Sherry Teresa (Charles) Sparks; two step sons, William Raymond (Connie) Wright, Jr. and Jerry Wayne (Carol) Wright both of Portsmouth; a brother Hager Jerome Shepherd of Mansfield; three grandchildren, Ranea (Rodney) Baker, Anthony Raymond ( Bonnie) Boyd, Alfard Ronald Boyd; five great grandchildren, Mariah L., Hope M., Makayla, Anthony J. and Marshall;  11 step grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  She was preceded in death by eleven  brothers; Clabe, Henderson, Homer, Norman, Arland, Alonzo, Tommy, Darcas, Bill, Roby, and Ed Shepherd; and one sister Pearlie Howard.

Funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Keith Monroe officiating and interment in Wright-Shepherd Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 6 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday and 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
