Arthur Herman Dorsen, 84
Arthur Herman Dorsen, 84 of West Portsmouth, died Thursday July 9, 2009 at Hempstead Manor. He was born October 30, 1924 in Chicago, Ill to the late Henry and Clare Schurhke Dorsen. He was a retired Bartender from Maxi's Place in Chicago and retired Security Guard from Nicholas Senn High School in Chicago. He was a WWII and Korean Navy War Veteran as well as a P.O.W. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed watching his beloved Chicago Cubs and Bears.
Arthur is survived by his wife Ellabet Phelps Dorsen who he married on August 29, 1953, 3 daughters; Patience (Jerry) Deskins of Alabama, Pamela (Bill) Hamilton of California and Maribet (J.R.) Mosley of West Portsmouth, 8 grandchildren; Patience (Chris) Peters, Michael (Brandi) Deskins, Ashley Deskins, Brenda (Joe) Szwabo, Emma (David) Ramirez, Becca Mosley, Michael Mosley and Jay Mosley, along with 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday July 13, 2009 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Reverend Donald Malone officiating. Military rites will also be given by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday starting at 11:00 AM.
