Barbara Allen Meyers Lewis, 71, of Portsmouth died Thursday, June 10, 2004 at the home of her daughter.  Her Beautiful spirit will be missed by all those she touched.  She was born in West Portsmouth on May 7, 1933 a daughter of Sylvia Ethel Morgan and Glenn Davis Meyers.  She was preceded in death by her beloved son David Ralph Lewis and her former husband Ralph Wayne Lewis.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn Meyers and Joel Meyers and a sister Alvaida Long.

Barbara is survived by three sons and one daughter:  Wayne and Kathy (McGinnis) Lewis of West Portsmouth, John Lewis of Minford, Jim and Kim (Mulier) Lewis of Fort Knox, KY, Laura and Ron Davis of Portsmouth.  She is also survived by 10 grandchildren:  Matt and Shasta Lewis of West Portsmouth, Amy Lewis of Columbus, Jessica and Andy McGinnis of Stout, Josh, Christopher, Jacob, Cassidy and Jessica Lewis of Fort Knox KY, Ben and Katie Davis of Portsmouth; two great grandchildren Ariel and Kane Lewis of West Portsmouth.  Barbara is also survived by seven brothers and two sistesrs:  Carl (Mildred) Meyers of Gahanna, Richard (Kathy) Meyers of Caryville, TN, Ralph (Gladys) Meyers of Severn MD, Ray (Betty) Meyers of Greenville, OH, Paul (Fay) Meyers of Lake Wales, FL, Ron (Cathy) Meyers of Portsmouth OH, William (Sarah) Meyers of Portsmouth OH, Loretta Nolan of Sheboygan Falls WI, Hazeldean  Meyers of Bradenton FL.

She was a graduate of Portsmouth West High School and later obtained an Associates degree from Shawnee State University.  She was retired from the Department of Health and Human Services.  She was a substitute teacher for Greenup County KY Schools, a member of the Order of Eastern Star Wheelersburg Chapter # 516 and a long time member and mentor in Al-Anon community.  She was a devoted volunteer for the organ donation organization-Lifeline of Ohio.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Sunday, June 13, 2004 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Reverend James Wolfe officiating.  Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M and 5 to 8 P.M. on Saturday  and one hour prior to the service on Sunday.  In lieu of flowers the Lewis Family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Southern Ohio at 2201 25th St., Portsmouth, OH 45662, or Lifeline of Ohio 770 Kinnear Road, Suite 200, Columbus, OH 43212.
