Bill Coleman, 78 of West Portsmouth a loving Dad and Papaw died, Wednesday May 7, 2008 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born November 22, 1929 in West Portsmouth to the late Clay and Gaynelle Priode Coleman. Bill was retired from the Ohio Operating Engineers and Boone Coleman Construction, He was a Air Force Veteran, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Portsmouth Elks Lodge # 154, a former member of the Elks Bowling league and Elks Tuesday Golf League, he also coached Little League Baseball for many years. Bill loved to garden and run around with his dog Toby. Along with his parents Bill is preceded in death by his first wife Marcella Rexroad Coleman and his brother Ervin Coleman.
Bill is survived by 4 sons and their wives; Steve and Karla Coleman, Perry and Karen Coleman, Scott and Kim Coleman and Jeff Coleman and Rachel Hammonds, 1 daughter and her husband Vicki and Joe Bloomfield, 6 grandsons; Corey and Jenny Coleman, Alex Bloomfield, Adam Coleman, Scottie and Heather Coleman, Christopher and Sarah Coleman and William "BJ" Coleman, 4 granddaughters; Marti Coleman, Sara and Kasey Boone, Jessica Bloomfield and Brittany Coleman, 5 great grandchildren; Noah, Cayden and Haley Coleman and Morgan and Talan Coleman, 5 brothers and their wives; Boone and Joyce Coleman, Bob and Jan Coleman, Russell and Barb Coleman, Larry and Pat Coleman and Doug and Cathy Coleman, 2 sisters and their husbands Maxine and Harry Cassidy and Delores and Tom Book, along with several nieces, nephews and friends. Bill is also survived by his wife Lilly Coleman.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday May 10, 2008 at Nauvoo United Methodist Church in West Portsmouth with Elder Ed Crabtree officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park with graveside military rites by James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8:00 PM at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth and at the church 1 hour prior to the service.
