Birdie Parker, 90
Birdie Parker, 90 of West Portsmouth, died Wednesday January 20, 2010 at Heartland of Portsmouth. She was born February 22, 1919 in Scioto County to the late Millard and Cora Risner Jenkins. Birdie was a WWII Woman's Army Auxiliary Veteran and was a former Selby Shoe Company employee. Along with her parents Birdie was preceded in death by her husband Stewart Lee Parker Sr. who she married on August 11, 1944 in Greenup, Ky., a son Stewart Parker Jr. and a grandchild Christopher Purdy.
Birdie is survived by 1 son Richard (Debra) Parker of Eden Park, 2 daughters; Diana Parker of West Portsmouth and Lois Brannon of Portsmouth, 8 grandchildren; Jonathan Parker, Jason Parker, Jeffrey Parker, Todd Purdy, Chad Purdy, Stacy Young, Amy Parker and Sarah Brannon, 8 great grandchildren and 1 gt gt grandchild.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday January 22, 2010 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Chad Purdy officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park with graveside military rites by James Dickey Post 23 American Legion.. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8:00 PM on Thursday and 1 hour prior to the service on Friday. Condolences may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com
