Bonnie Sue
(Staten) Skaggs

Bonnie Sue Skaggs, 77
Bonnie Sue (Staten)Skaggs, 77 of West Portsmouth, left us on October 17, 2024 . Her faith was strong and she has gone to be with her Savior. Bonnie was born on August 11, 1947 to the late Ralph Nelson Staten and Pearl Roene Staten Burton who survives.
She was employed by Williams Shoe Manufacturing until they closed operations in Portsmouth.
Along with her father Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, John Skaggs.
Left to miss her terribly are her mother, Pearl; brother Tom (Diana) and his family; her step-daughter and care-giver, Mary (Carl) Howard, 3 stepsons; Michael Skaggs, Johnny Skaggs and David Skaggs, 11 grandchildren; James (Laura) Howard, Amy (Mark) Covert, Naomi (Chaz) Horsley, Carl Howard Jr., Michael Skaggs Jr., Amber Skaggs, Sammy Skaggs, Belinda Oppy, Megan Richmond, Samantha Lyles and Brooklyn Skaggs along with 24 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was quiet and shy, but made a real difference to a lot of people. She never complained in spite of a lot of hard times. She loved computer games and often helped with the children in Mary's home. She made the best German chocolate cake ever for our trips to Portsmouth! The Staten family wants to thank the Howard family for all their love and care for Bonnie through the years.
Special thanks to Amy Covert and Naomi Horsley, Mary's daughters, for all they have done to help with everything. Special thanks to Community Choice Home Care and her therapist, Michelle Compton for their special care. Rest in peace, Bonnie! We will miss you for now, but we will see you again!
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the funeral home. Condolences and Donations may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com.
