Carl Patrick Wheelersburg, 86
Carl Patrick Wheelersburg, 86 of McDermott, died Wednesday March 13, 2013 at SOMC Hospice. He was born April 4, 1926 in Ironton to the late Carl F. and Rosanna Sweeny Wheelersburg. Carl was a graduate of the University of Dayton and retired as Office Manager for Ohio Valley Electric Corporation. He was a Navy WWII veteran and a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and was the recipient of the Saint Vincent de Paul Top Hat Award. He was also a long time member of Saint Vincent de Paul and was involved with the Glenmary Mission since 1955. He loved all children, especially his grandchildren. Along with his parents Carl was preceded in death by his wife Mabel Frances Igo Wheelersburg, who he married in September 9, 1950, 3 sisters; Mary Wetzel, Teresa McMackin and Rosie Youngerman.
Carl is survived by 2 sons; Robert (Susan) Wheelersburg of Elizabethtown, PA and Danny (Tammie) Wheelersburg of McDermott, 3 daughters: Patricia (David) Snipes of Logan, Rebecca Wheelersburg of McDermott and Janie (Jim) Haas of Portsmouth, a brother John Wheelersburg of Denver CO, a sister Rita Spitler of Indianapolis, IN 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, caregiver Barb Jenkins and a special niece Rita Ugrin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Saturday March 16, 2013 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church with Father David Young officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park with graveside military rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth on Friday from 6 to 8:00 PM with the Recitation of the Rosary service starting at 8:00PM. Friends may also call on Saturday at the funeral home from 9:30 to 10:30 am. The family wishes to thank SOMC Hospice, Best Care and USSA Adult Day Center. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to SOMC Hospice and USSA Adult Care Center in Carl's name. Condolences may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com
