Charles Cooper, 66

Charles Richard Cooper, 66 of Stout, died Monday, July 8, 2013 at Hilton Head Hospital in Hilton Head, South Carolina. He was born June 8, 1947 in Portsmouth to the late Charles Hayes and Betty Cooper Caldwell. He was raised by the late Everett and Dorothy Lewis. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his mother and father in law, Lorene and Walt Ward, half sisters; Linda Skolnick and Helen Lee and half brother Ron Hayes. Charles was currently employed at Dayton Power and Light. He was a Army National Guard veteran, a former Nile Township Trustee and a member of the Nile Township Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years.

Charles is survived by his wife Nancy Ward Cooper who he married on July 4, 1969, 2 sons; Charles David (Alecia) Cooper and Nicholas Wayne (Tammy) Cooper all of Blue Creek, a daughter Kelley Jo (Marc) Shupert of West Portsmouth, 6 grandchildren; Hanna (Aaron), Tas (Cassidy), Mason, Devon, Carlie and Zack, stepbrother, Lee Caldwell of Lewis County, KY, 2 half sisters; Bert Leonhart and Shirley Tolliver both of Mansfield, sister in law, Frances (Dale) Sexton of South Shore, Ky. and a special aunt Ruth Hakala of Illinois.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday July 13, 2013 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Gregg Cooper officiating. Interment will be in McKendree Cemetery with graveside rites by Nile Township Volunteer Fire Department.   Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8:00 PM on Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
