Charles Raymond Jewell, 92
Charles Raymond Jewell, 92 of Portsmouth died Wednesday December 7, 2011 at his residence. Charles was born April 20, 1919 in Portsmouth to the late William Harrison and Martha Jane McCormick Jewell. He worked as a mechanic for Glockners, and was a WWII Army Veteran. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife; Eileen Elizabeth Rudity Jewell, 2 sons; Raymond David Jewell and Charles Eugene Jewell , 2 brothers; Hobert Morton Jewell and William Harrison Jewell, 2 sisters; Anna Mae Bentley, and Emma Ferguson Windsor.
Charles is survived by a brother; John Sherman Jewell of Portsmouth, several nieces and nephews, special caretakers; Vina Colley and Thomas Reed. The family would like to thank the caregivers of SOMC Hospice and Passport for there care.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday December 11, 2011 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Roger Powell officiating. Iinterment will be in Friendship Cemetery with military graveside rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may be call at the funeral home on Sunday starting at Noon.
