Charles Edward Smith, 88

Charles Edward Smith, 88 of McDermott, died Wednesday March 1, 2023 at his home. He was born December 28, 1934 in Otway, to the late Curtis Smith and Ocie Hayslip.

Charles was a Log Buyer for Taylor Lumber Company for 39 years and was a member of the Dry Run Church of Christ.

Charles is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Lou Burtrum Smith. a son, Charles E. (Carmela) Smith Jr., a daughter Pamela (Joseph) Estep, 2 grandchildren: Jason Smith and Curtis (Jessica) Smith, 5 great grandchildren: Laken, Austin, Colton, Carter and Sadie, and 1 great-grandchild, Kylee.

A memorial graveside service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Portsmouth. Arrangements are under the direction of the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth. Condolences may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com.
