Clarence E. Ferrell, 78

Clarence E. Ferrell, 78 of Friendship, died Thursday December 6, 2007 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born January 13, 1929 in Glen Alum, West Virginia to the late Willie and Ava Carter Ferrell. He was retired from the City of Portsmouth where he worked for 29 years operating a bulldozer on the city dump and was a foreman for the streets and sewers. Clarence was also a WWII Army Veteran and served in Japan. He was a member of James Dickey Post 23 American Legion and was a member of Stoney Run Tabernacle.

Clarence is survived by his wife Josie Hicks Ferrell who he married July 11, 1949, 1 son Clarence E. Ferrell Jr. of Bidwell, Ohio, 5 daughters; Rose Copas, Connie Carver and Donna Adams all of Friendship, Brenda York of West Portsmouth and Barbara Swords of Virginia, 4 brothers; Michael of Reynoldsburg, Denver of Knoxville, TN Richard of Detroit Michigan and Harold of New Mexico, 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren along with a special friend Paul Woten of Friendship. Along with his parents Clarence is preceded in death by a son Ronald, a brother Orville and 4 sisters; Virginia, Thelma, Murtle and Linda.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday December 10, 2007 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Brother Jr Wiley officiating. Interment will be at Scioto Burial Park with graveside military rites by James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friend may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4PM and 6 to 8PM on Sunday and 1 hour prior to the service on Monday. The family's favorite charity is the American Cancer Society.
