Connie Sue Bennett, 62 of West Portsmouth died Thursday, April 6, 2006 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. Connie was born November 30, 1943 in Portsmouth to the late
Manford Griffith and to Marie Jarvis Howerton who survives. She was a homemaker, a member of Dry Run Christian Church, American Legion Auxiliary Post 23, Chairman of the Legion Memorial Day Service, and Captain of Ladies Auxiliary Color Guard Post 23.
Connie is survived by a daughter, Michell ( Dave) Counts of McDermott; a son Michael Lee Bennett, Jr., of McDermott; a sister, Linda (Carl) Distel of West Portsmouth; two brothers, Bob (Diane) Howerton of West Portsmouth and Jerry Griffith of Columbus; four grandchildren, Shellie Bennett, T.J. Adams, Jenifer (J.M.)Mosley, and Michael Lee Bennett III; and one great grandson, Devin Miller. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Howerton who was killed in action in Viet Nam and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Monday, April 10, 2006 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with David Distel officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park.
