Dallas James Gilbert, 67

Dallas James Gilbert, 67 of Portsmouth, died Friday December 9, 2016 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born November 17, 1949 in Waverly, Ohio to the late Benjamin Speedy and Muriel Whitt Gilbert. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 brothers Kermit Whitt, and Ronald Rapp. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War where he was a tank driver, a retired construction worker, and was well known for his "Big Foot" research.

He is survived by his wife Cecile Westfall Gilbert, a son, Dallas James Gilbert II, 2 daughters; Dorothy Lovella Malone, and Crystal Ann Gilbert, a brother, Edward Rapp, 3 sisters; Janet Rader, Lucinda Parr, Hazel W. Russell and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00am Monday, December 19, 2016 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth. Interment will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery with military graveside rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday starting at 8:00 AM.
