Daphna Leona Pitts-Clay 81

Daphna Leona Pitts-Clay 81 of West Portsmouth, Ohio went to be with the Lord Wednesday November 18, 2009 at her home. She was born January 7, 1928 in White Gravel, Minford, Ohio to The late Omar and May Pitts. She was a charter member of Mt. Zion Apostolic Church, 16th St. West Portsmouth for 48 years. Along with her parents Daphna was preceded in death by her husband William Clay, a grandson Tom Mershon, 3 brothers; Omar, William and Moses Pitts, 5 sisters; Nancy Culp, Dorothy Pruitt, Joyce Culp, Wanda Segraves and Althea Whited.

Daphna Clay is survived by one brother John and Shirley Pitts London, Ohio, two sisters, Velma and (John) Tackett, Pearlie and (Ronnie) Finney, Rarden, Ohio. And her three loving daughters, (Willard) and Patricia Mershon of West Portsmouth, (Gary) and Pamela Blanton of Piketon, Ohio and (Bill) and Jo Ingles of West Portsmouth. 14 grandchildren, Bill and Dora Mershon, Mike and Dunia Mershon, Kathy Mershon, Sue Mershon, Melissa Spriggs, Melinda and Shannon Smith, David and Jessica Ingles, Laura Estep and Dameon Brown, Eddie Sexton. 25 great grandchildren, John and Erica Messer, Teejay Mershon, Brandi Stepp, Landon Copas, Josh Mershon, Natalie Mershon, Robin Zendejas, Amanda Mershon, Will Mershon, Rachel Ridout, Derrick Mershon, William and Malea Brown, Katie and Austin Spriggs, Krista Ingles, Dakota Smith, Christopher and Tyler Ingles, Zack Sexton, Noah and Shawn Estep, Kelly Estep, Sean Brewster, 3 great, great grandchildren, Nickolas, Dillon and Breanna Messer. Daphna will be sadly missed by friends and family.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday November 21, 2009 at Mt Zion Apostolic Church in West Portsmouth with Don Harr officiating and interment in Mershon Cemetery. Friends may call at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth from 5 to 8:00 PM on Friday and 1 hour prior to the funeral at the church. The family's favorite charity is SOMC Hospice.
