David Michael Distel, 72

David Michael Distel, 72 of Portsmouth, died Wednesday February 26, 2014 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born December 11, 1941 in West Portsmouth to the late Carl Willis and Jewell L. Storey Distel Sr. He was a US Marine Corps veteran. David was the Owner and Operator of Distel Construction and was the Minister at Dry Run Mission. He retired out of the Operators Local #18. Along with his parents David was preceded in death by his wife Linda Kay Piatt Distel who he married on December 2, 1961.

David is survived by 2 sons; Michael (Trudy) Distel of Stout, and Mark Distel of West Portsmouth, 3 daughters; Becky Distel of Stout, Gwen (Marvin) Roe of West Portsmouth, Carla (Virgil) Hall of Friendship, 2 brothers; Carl (Linda) Distel Jr. of West Portsmouth, and Gary (Jolene) Distel of Port Richey, FL and 1 sister, Carol Spencer of West Portsmouth. 5 grandchildren; Laura Adkins (who was raised as a daughter), Jessica Hall, Kyle Borders, Brian Borders, and Kiersten Distel, 2 great grandchildren; Colton Adkins and Jacob Ratcliff, 4 step grandchildren; Janie Kouns, Jodie Kouns, Jason Roe, and Ashley Roe, 11 step great grandchildren; Gabe Kouns, Trace Kouns, Emilie Ruby, Zane Williams, Allie Sissel, Gracie Ruby, Jaina Ruby, Scarlet Roe, Austin Roe, Lauren Gambill, Ayden Gambill. David is also survived by his life long friends; Gene Hickle and Bobby Evans Sr., along with many more friends and family.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Sunday March 2, 2014 at the Roger W Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Don Malone officiating. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery with graveside military rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion.
