Derek James Adkins, 24

Derek James Adkins, 24 of West Portsmouth died Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Southern Ohio Medical Center as a result of a car accident. He was born November 15, 1991 in Portsmouth, and was a graduate of Portsmouth West High School in 2011. Derek was a Union Carpenter and a member of Carpenters Local 437. He loved to hunt and fish and help with his sons T-ball team.

He is preceded in death by a grandmother, Mary Sue Adkins, grandfather, Dale VanBibber, and an aunt Stacy VanBibber.

Derek is survived by his parents, Darrin and Julie Adkins, his fiancé and mother of his child, Samantha Eichenlaub, a son, Jase James Adkins, 2 brothers; Eric Adkins and Eli Adkins, a sister; Addison Adkins, his poppy, James Adkins, a grandmother Janie (John) Craigmiles, , 4 uncles; Marlin (Tammie) Adkins, Jerred (Kristin) Adkins, Jeff (Tami) VanBibber, and Chris VanBibber, a nephew; Jensen Adkins, a niece Jada Adkins, his birth mother, JoEllen Robinson Adkins, and a half brother, Zach Nagel.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday May 27, 2016 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Brother Kenneth Potter officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8pm and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
