Diana Lou Pennington Gray, 67
Diana Lou Pennington Gray, 67, of West Portsmouth passed away on Monday, July 27, 2015.
She was a retiree of the U.S. Postal Service, working at the Portsmouth Post Office for 32 years. She loved Pete Rose almost as much as anything else in life, was the founding member and president of the Pete Rose fan club, Portsmouth branch, and went to the ball field nightly until she could witness his famous "4192" hit. In true Diana fashion, she will be buried in her Pete Rose shirt, supporting him one last time.
Diana was a 1965 graduate of Portsmouth West High School. She loved planning her class reunions so she could stay in touch with all of her beloved classmates, and was looking so forward to her 50th class reunion in just a few weeks. She was a breast cancer survivor and supported the annual Relay for Life for many years. She was a loving daughter and caretaker to her mom and loved feeding hummingbirds and wildlife. She loved her husband and kids fiercely, and she loved nothing more than watching her grandkids grow and attending their osporting events.
She was born on October 21, 1947 to the late James Morton Pennington and Janell Schmidt Pennington Oppy. She is also preceded in death by her nephew, Jeremy Pennington and many aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly fifty years, Thomas Wayne Gray of West Portsmouth; her son, Eric Gray of West Portsmouth and her daughter, Kelli Gray of Rosemount; her brother, Rodney (Sarah) Pennington of Lebanon (OH) and a sister-in-law, Annette (Mike) Lyons of Roanoke (VA); three grandchildren, Tayler Carter and Sydney Carter of Rosemount, and Jared Conkel of Rosemount; two nieces, Kim (Stacy) Anderson of Roanoke (VA) and Erin (Nick) Coleman of Lebanon (OH); one nephew, Brandon Lyons of Knoxville (TN); and four foreign-exchange grand-children, Alex Brell and Meike Krause of Germany, Pedro Sampaio of Brazil, and Marta Tomasi of Italy.
