IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Diane
Howerton
February 8, 2023
Diane Howerton, 67
Diane Traylor Howerton, 67, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday February 8, 2023. She was born August 12, 1955, to William Howard and Mary Frances (Watkins) Traylor.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert "Bob" William Howerton, whom she married on October 26, 1969. He passed just over one year ago.
Diane was a member of The American Legion Women's Auxiliary since the 1980's. She donated many hours of her time over the years. She also volunteered at different charities over her lifetime when she lived in Louisiana as well as Ohio and Kentucky but her most important focus was to be at home with her family.
She loved her family dearly and was a wonderful mother to "her girls". She was the epitome of a role model for her family (extended family as well) when it came to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. When her only grandchild came along, she thoroughly enjoyed helping out with raising her. And she enjoyed her great grandchildren with what little precious time she got to spend with them before God called her home.
Diane belonged to different churches over her lifetime but her favorite Pastor to listen to as he explained scripture was Pastor Arnold Murray of The Shepherd's Chapel and she encouraged people to watch him as she did daily. She read her KJV Holy Bible everyday and loved the Lord.
She also was an animal lover and had a soft spot for God's creatures who were abandoned or hurt and needed help. Again, she would step up and help in whatever way that she could. No person or animal ever went hungry if she had anything to say about it.
Diane is survived by 2 daughters: Sonia Howerton (Jeff Boggs) and Tami (Johnny) Tolliver, 3 sisters: Denise (Tim) Bowling, Cathy (Dory) Chandler, and Brenda Evans, a granddaughter: Tiffany (Howard) Robinson and 2 great grandchildren, Brycen and Brynan Robinson. She had a best friend from Louisiana for almost 50 years: Cynthia (Danny) Shexsnyder. She also had several cousins, nieces, and nephews. If anyone isn't mentioned, please accept the family's apology.
Funeral services will be Monday February 13, 2023 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Brian Baer officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11-1 on Monday with the service beginning at 1:00. Condolences may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com
In lieu of flowers Diane would have liked for donations to be made to The Shepherd's Chapel in her memory.
