Donald Ray Smith Sr., 81

Donald Ray Smith Sr., 81 of West Portsmouth, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 27, 2017. Don was born in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was the son of the late Howard and Jessie Darragh Smith. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rosetta Sue Johnson Smith, on July 19, 2015, an infant daughter, Jacqueline Sue Smith, five brothers, Edward, Charles, Homer, Carl and Mack, six sisters, Faye Arthurs, Thelma Dafoe, Garnet Branham, Bernice Logan, Elizabeth Smith and Dorthea Juanita Smith. Don was a Christian and attended the Friendship Church of God in Friendship, Ohio.

He and Sue were married on October 13, 1962. He is survived by his three children, Donnie (Alisa) R. Smith, Jr., of South Shore, Kentucky, Tammy Smith and her fiancé, Tim Shekels, of Minford, Ohio, and Ronnie (Sarah) Smith of West Portsmouth, Ohio, grandchildren, Crystal Reinhardt Stone, Donnie Ray Smith, III, Lexie Nicole Doddridge and Kiersten Smith, great-grandchildren, Alexzander and Brice Stone. He is also survived by his loving dog, Cracker Jack.

Don is also survived by two additional sons, David (Debbie) Smith and Larry Smith of Piqua, Ohio, grandchildren, David, April, Larry, Jr., Shane and Shannon along with several great-grandchildren.

Don was a retired auto body repairman and mechanic. He enjoyed his retirement by spending most days at his son's car lot, Donnie Smith Auto Sales in Portsmouth, Ohio. He also enjoyed car racing, fishing and playing the guitar.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday May 1, 2017 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth, Ohio, with Rev. David Blevins officiating.
