Edna "Denise" Campbell-Gaines, 66
Edna "Denise" Campbell-Gaines, 66, of New Boston, formerly of West Portsmouth, died Saturday, May 18, 2024, at SOMC Hospice. She was born February 28, 1958, in Portsmouth, to the late Wilbur Sam and Delores (Bloomfield) Campbell.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alyssa Aireona Renae Spriggs and a son-in-law, Shaun Spriggs.
Denise was a 1976 graduate of Portsmouth West High School. She worked many years for Community Action with roles such as a cook and being in the classrooms to assist when needed. One of her proudest achievements, besides being a mother and grandmother, was being a part of the Foster Grandparents Program. From this program she won many awards for her service to the kids and community.
She is survived by a son, Robert (Jill Pick) Campbell; a daughter, Amanda Spriggs; 3 grandchildren, Chase Wilbur Edward Carver, Whitney Dawn Campbell, and Wyatt Dylan Campbell; 2 brothers, Wilbur Campbell Jr. and Mark Campbell, and many special nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00PM Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth, with interment following in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 12:00PM on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the funeral home.
