Edward Charles Conley, 83

Edward Charles Conley, 83 of Salisbury North Carolina formerly of West Portsmouth passed away Thursday November 6, 2014 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury, N.C.. He was born in Scioto County on March 15, 1931 to the late Emma Williams and Charles Roger Conley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers; Iley Conley, Paul Conley, and Clayton Conley and 1 sister Ival Turner.

Edward worked as an auto salesman. He was also a square dance caller for country western music. He was a member of Carmel Baptist Church and the Aurora Masonic Lodge #48. Edward loved to joke, and was always referred as "Smiling Ed". He loved to write and record gospel songs.

Edward is survived by his lovely wife of 65 year, Lois Sue Askins Conley, 2 sons; Daniel (Stephanie) Conley of Missouri, Duane (Ella) "Tub" Conley of Lucasville, 2 daughters; Diana (Jerry) Hanson of Seaman, OH, Denise (Tom) Blackburn of Salisbury, NC, 1 brother, Harold (Wendy) Conley of Oklahoma, 1 sister, Ruth Bogan of Portsmouth, 8 grandchildren; Jason, Michael, Nathaniel, Amanda, Jeri Lynn, Joe, Dana, and Kayla Sue. 9 great-grandchildren which he truly loved.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday November 12, 2014 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with ­Bob Alexander officiating and interment in Rushtown Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Masonic Services will be held 8:00 PM on Tuesday November 11, 2014 at the funeral home by Aurora Masonic Lodge # 48 and Nauvoo Masonic Lodge #769.
