Eugene A. O'Dell, age 91, of Friendship died Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at SOMC Hospice. He was born February 11, 1928 in Portsmouth to the late Luther B. and Della Ferrell Beekman O'Dell. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Gathergood O'Dell whom he met while stationed in England during World War II. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Edward O'Dell, and 2 sisters: Virginia Marie Nickel and Miriam Louise Webb.

Eugene was a World War II United States Air Force veteran. He was a brick mason, worked at Empire Detroit Steel and West End Electric. He and his brothers combined to build all their homes themselves with their own personal skills.

Eugene is survived by a daughter, Linda (George) Sroczynski, a grandson, Austin Tyler Sroczynski, 4 brothers: Lynn, Harold, Paul, and Ronald O'Dell, along with many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 1:15 PM Monday, December 16, 2019 at Friendship Cemetery with military graveside rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth on Monday from 11:30 to 1:00 PM.
