Evelyn Mildred Montavon, 87 Evelyn Mildred Montavon, 87 of West Portsmouth, died Tuesday January 7, 2014 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. She was born May 8, 1926 in West Portsmouth to the late James Arthur and Margaret Eleanor Vernier Montavon. She was a former Williams Shoe Company employee and worked at Weaver's Gas and Oil as a casher. Evelyn was a member of Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Church in West Portsmouth. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Louis Joseph Montavon who she married on August 26, 1950, a daughter Rita Green, 3 brothers; Ralph, Bernard and James Lewis Jr. and 3 sisters; Kathryn Young, Thelma Cooper and Anna Hayslip. Evelyn is survived by a son Michael (Peggy) Montavon of West Portsmouth, 3 daughters; Beverly Mays of Gainesville, FL, Janet (Roger) Tieman of West Portsmouth and Jennifer (Mark Newman) Spriggs of West Portsmouth, 2 brothers; Leroy Lewis of Dayton and William Lewis of Lucasville, 2 sisters; Louise Hatton of Dayton and Betty Elrod of Lexington, KY, 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, and a special caregiver Sandy Hackworth. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Saturday January 11, 2014 at Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Church in West Portsmouth with Father David Young officiating and interment in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Friends may call at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth from 5 to 8:00 PM on Friday with a prayer service being held at 8:00 PM.
