Evelyn R. Spence, 87
Evelyn R. "Bunny" Spence, 87 of West Portsmouth, died Friday December 25, 2009 at SOMC Hospice. She was born March 18, 1922 in Portsmouth to the late William and Rose May Gambill. She was a retired Teachers Aid from Washington-Nile School District and was a member of Nauvoo United Methodist Church. Along with her parents Bunny was preceded in death by 3 brothers; Bill, Bob and David Gambill and a sister Jane Warner.
Bunny is survived by her husband Willard T. Spence who she married on July 31, 1945 in Portsmouth, 2 daughters; Jan R. (James) Armstrong of West Portsmouth and Carol R. (Dan) Peebles of McDermott, 2 grandchildren; Jill Armstrong and Caleb Peebles, 2 brothers; Frank Gambill of North Carolina and Howard Gambill of California, 2 half brothers; Gary Gambill of Stout and Michael Gambill of Sciotoville.
Funeral services will be 1:00 Monday December 28, 2009 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Rick Ratliff officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 7:00 PM on Sunday and 1 hour prior to the service on Monday. The family requests that donations be made to SOMC Hospice in Bunny's name.
