Frances Katheryn Tipton, 94

Frances Katheryn Tipton, 94 a life long resident of West Portsmouth, died Thursday September 20, 2012 at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis. She was born July 4, 1918 in Firebrick, Kentucky to the late George William and Edith Hockenheimer Anderson. Along with her parents Frances was preceded in death by her husband William Richard "Dick" Tipton Sr. who she married on June 12, 1943 in Astoria Oregon, an infant daughter, Barbara Lee Tipton, 5 brothers and 5 sisters. Frances was a "Rosie the Riveter" in WWII and was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church and Lakeside Community Church in New Boston. She was a lover of West High School football and never missed a game her son coached.

Frances is survived by a son William Richard "Dick" Tipton Jr. and wife Victoria of Pomeroy, Ohio, 4 grandchildren; Michael (Nong) Tipton of Portsmouth, Michelle Heberlein of Bay Village, Travis Tipton of New Philadelphia and Ian (Sara) Tipton of Pomeroy along with 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday September 23, 2012 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Rick Phillips officiating and interment in McKendree Cemetery.
