Freda “Ruth” Charles, 89

Freda “Ruth” Charles, 89, of West Portsmouth, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Hillview Retirement Center. She was born May 20, 1936, in Scioto County to the late Otto and Bertha Robinson Campbell. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Eugene Charles, and her children, Douglas Alan Charles and Beverly Jean Lykins; a grandson, David Lykins and her loving siblings, Howard, Cecil, Kenneth, Norman, Helen, and Jean.

Ruth was a member of Nauvoo Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Jenny (Chris) Souders, and Courtney (Nick) Antonaros; as well as her great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Jordan, and Zaide Antonaros, and Kori and Kaleb Souders.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Pastor Pete Shaffer officiating, with interment in Brea Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday beginning at 11:00 AM.
