Garnet Pauline "Granny" Sowards, 73
Garnet Pauline "Granny" Sowards, 73 of Portsmouth died Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. Garnet was born September 26, 1932 in Adams County to the late Oscar Morton and Edna G. Howe Cooper. She was a member of Nile Twp. Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.
Garnet was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Sowards. She is survived by a son John (Peggy) Preston Sowards of Stout; two daughters, Brenda K. Sowards and Sandra Lou Sowards of Portsmouth; one brothers, Brucie Donald Cooper of Adams County; one sister, Helen D. Bays of Portsmouth; three grandchildren, Stacy (Sean) Liptrap and Tracy (Roger) Huffman of Bridgewater, VA, and Jonathan E. Sowards of Stout. Garnet was preceded in death by two brothers, William Kenneth and Harry E. Cooper, and one sister, Virginia Louise Hodge.
Funeral services will be 1 P.M. Saturday, July 1, 2006 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Vernon Shiveley officiating and interment in McKendree Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 11 until 1 on Saturday. Condolences may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com.
