H. Rodney Maynard, 90
H. Rodney Maynard 90 of West Portsmouth, died Thursday July 24, 2008 at his residence. He was born May 7, 1908 in Scioto County to the late John K and Mary Murray Maynard. Rodney managed Leet Lumber Company for 30 years, was a WWII Army Veteran, a member of the James Dickey Post # 23 American Legion, Aurora Masonic Lodge #48 and 32 Degree Mason, Scottish Rite and a Kentucky Colonel, He served on the Washington–Nile Local School Board for 16 years and was a member and Trustee of Rehoboth Mission Church. He was a loyal Westside fan; he loved to coach, go to games and loved to hear the school song. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by a son Gregory Lynn Maynard, a grandson Vincenzo D'Epifanio, 3 brothers; Claude, Ken and Hurley Maynard and 2 sisters Halley Jarrells and Helena Arnold.
Rodney is survived by his wife Bertha Sparks Maynard whom he married in 1945, a son Larry Rodney (Teresa) Maynard of Stout, a daughter Patricia Gail (Ron) D'Epifanio of Fairfield, OH, 6 grandchildren; Lynne D'Epifanio, Craig (Stephanie) D'Epifanio all of Fairfield, Melissa (Doug) Davis of Stout, Greg (Jennifer) Maynard of West Portsmouth, Jason (Ashley) Maynard of Stout, Cheno Maynard of West Portsmouth, 12 great grandchildren; Tony, Victoria, Tara and Jenna D'Epifanio all of Fairfield, Kelsey and Joshua Davis of Stout, Alexis and Larry Todd Maynard, Hannah and Kaelan Jack Cremeans, Madison Essman and Mikina Maynard all of West Portsmouth,and a brother N. Thomas Maynard of Sevierville, TN
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday July 28, 2008 at the Rehoboth Mission Church in West Portsmouth with David Lute officiating. Interment will be at Scioto Burial Park with graveside military rites by James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 PM on Sunday at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth and 1 hour prior to the funeral at the church. Masonic services will be held at 8:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home by Aurora Masonic # 48.
