Harold Joseph "Joe" Evans 78

Harold Joseph "Joe" Evans 78 of West Portsmouth passed away Sunday, September 27, 2009 at Southern Ohio Medical Center after a long illness. He was born on March 26, 1931 in West Portsmouth to the late Hayes and Pearl Evans. He was preceded in death by four brothers; Robert, Thomas, Donald and Gene Evans and one sister; Louise Jordan. Joe was a retired paver operator for the former Ohio Asphalt Division and Standard Material Inc. with over 40 years of service, a retired life member of the Operators Engineers Local 18; a Army veteran of the Korean War, also served in the National Guard and was a member of the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. He was very proud to have served his country. Joe also loved watching Nascar Races and spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed by his family.

Harold is survived by his wife of 53 years Maxine Evans, two daughter; Sue (Jeff) Vernier and Sherri (Jeff) Sparks, three sons; Tim (Kim) Evans, Kenny (Audra) Evans and Aaron Evans and one sister; Irene Kitchen all of West Portsmouth; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1pm Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portmouth with Ben Musick and Craddock Frye officiating and interment in Friendship Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be given by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8pm
