Harry Marvin Luther, 80
Harry Marvin Luther, 80 of Portsmouth died Monday, April 04, 2005 at his residence. Harry was born November 7, 1924 in Portsmouth to the late Thomas Francis and Charlotte May Turner Luther. He was an inventor, singer, and man of many talents. He never met a stranger and was always loved by all. Harry always had the right words of wisdom for whoever was in need of compassion, love, and understanding. He loved his country and served in the Army as a medic in the South Pacific during WWII. He worked for Robitt Awning Company and was trained by his father-in-law. He went to California and started his own business and was a great inventor of many things. Harry was a member of American Legion Post 23, Moose, Eagles, VFW of Riverside, CA, and was of the Lutheran faith.
Harry was preceded in death by his wife Anna Jane. He is survived by one daughter, Charlotte R. Luther of Cincinnati ; one son, Gary Luther of California; Grandson Michael T. Carroll and Granddaughter Dawn Sylvester-Dunn and 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild. Harry was preceded in death by a son Earl Luther, two brothers, and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM Friday, April 8, 2005 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Dennis Dawes officiating and interment in Memorial Burial Park with graveside military rights by the James Dicky American Legion Post 23.
