Helen Louise Conley Ciraso, 92
Helen Louise Conley Ciraso, 92 of McDermott, died Friday December 23, 2016 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. She was born March 10, 1924 in Portsmouth to the late Grover Cleveland and Bertha Louise Mullins Conley. Helen was a graduate of Portsmouth West High School and Portsmouth Interstate Business College. She retired from the 4th District Court of Appeals on May 1, 1992 after 38 years of government service, 36 years of which were spent in Scioto County. She started her career in Washington D.C. in 1941 for the War Production Board, that is where she met her husband Frank, who was on the Honor Guard to Franklin D. Roosevelt. Helen has worked in all courts of Scioto County, starting as Deputy Clerk in the Municipal Court in 1956 then moving to Common Pleas Court in 1961, and finished her position in 1972. Helen and Frank were founding members of the Tracy Park War Memorial. Helen was active in the Auxiliary of Tony R. Applegate post 3714, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Rebekah Manila Lodge and the Auxiliary of the James Dickey Post. She was also a former Secretary/Treasurer of the KIA-MIA Memorial Monument Fundraising Drive to erect a memorial in Tracy Park to honor veterans of all wars. She loved both of her children--and especially her only grandson, Ryan, who was the light of her life. Her love for her siblings, their spouses and her nieces and nephews was unfailing

Along with her parents Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Frank E. Ciraso who she married on April 8, 1942 in Washington D.C., her beloved grandson that she loved so much, Ryan Edward Ciraso, 5 brothers; Grover Jr., Glenn, Kelly, Charles and William "Bill" Conley and a sister Kathleen Howell. Helen is survived by a son Frank E. "Ed" Ciraso of West Portsmouth and a daughter Patricia "Pat" Ciraso of McDermott, along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, December 29, 20116 at Old Town United Methodist Church with Reverend Gary Hopkins and Greg Carter officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth from 2 to 8:00pm on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to any of the following in Helen's name; James Dickey Post 23 American Legion, Old Town United Methodist Church or Portsmouth West Alumni Scholarship Fund.
