Henry Thomas Tackett, 87
Henry Thomas Tackett, 87 of West Portsmouth peacefully left this earth on Friday, September 29, 2006 in a Georgetown VA Home. Henry was born August 29, 1919 in Portsmouth to Daniel and Lucy Frances Gillen Tackett. He was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 18 out of Dayton. Henry proudly served in WWII in Patton's Third Army where he received the Silver Star, the Purple Heart, the American Defense Medal and many others. He was also a member of American Legion Post 23 and served on the Funeral Details for many years. He was truly a quiet American Hero.
Henry married the love of his life Launa McComas Tackett in 1946 and she preceded him in death; he is survived by a son, Roger (Martha) Tackett of South Charleston, OH; three daughters, Janet Lynn McGue of West Portsmouth, Diana Morgan of Columbus, and Anita (Ed) Marcum of Elizabethtown, IN; seven grandchildren, Cathy Cooper, Cheley Tacket, Roger (Sally) Tackett, Jr., Andrea Fraley, Shane (Natalie) Malone, Chelsea and Cody Marcum; and two great grandchildren, Steve Biars and Austin Fraley. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Kenneth McGue.
Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral in West Portsmouth with Rick Ratliff officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM Monday and one hour prior to the service Tuesday. Graveside Military Rites will be by James Dickey Post 23 American Legion.
