Hubert "Hubie" Burl Hoover, 79
Hubert "Hubie" Burl Hoover, 79 of West Portsmouth died May 8, 2008 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. Hubert was born July 15, 1928 in Bryson City, North Carolina to the late Walter Elmer Hoover, Sr. and Annie "Sowkulech. He was a Korean and Vietnam War Veteran and retired from the Military where he was highly decorated, a member of the American Legion, and was a member of VFW 2832.
Hubert is survived a son Kevin (Kathy) Hoover of West Portsmouth; two daughters, Vickie (Jim) Adkins of Gahanna, Barbara Moore of Blackville, SC; mother of his children, Betty Hoover, three brothers, (twin brother) Robert Hoover of Sciotoville, Walter (Betty) Hoover Jr. of South Carolina, John (Helen) Hoover of Tennessee; four sisters, Retha (George) Piette of Virginia, Dorothy Price of Virginia, Edith McKisson of Virginia, Sue (Ed) Prose of Columbus, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, special friend Kenneth "Ray" (Linda) Hodge and loyal companions Lady and Miss Buckeye. In addition to his parents, Hubert was preceded in death by his maternal mother, Ruth Woody Hoover, a wife, Janet M. Hoover, a son, Danny Hoover and one brother, Billy Hoover.
Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Monday, May 12, 2008 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Evangelist Bill Melvin officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park with graveside military rites by James Dickey American Legion Post 23. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 6 to 8 Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Condolences may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com
