James Emory Hobbs, 70
Evangelist James Emory Hobbs died at 8:43 A.M., October 23, 2006 at his home in Wellston, Ohio of Liver Cancer. He was born May 27, 1936 in West Portsmouth, OH to Loranzo (Davey) Hobbs and Esther Alto (Martin) Hobbs, who preceded him in death.
Reverend Hobbs Evangelized in several states and was a pastor in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and West Virginia.
He left behind his wife of 37 years, DeEtta (Culp) Hobbs, and seven children. Surviving are his four children from his previous marriage, Diana (Hobbs) John Chalabis, Patricia (Hobbs) Bill Berrier, James Michael (Regina) Hobbs, Sr., Robert L. (Lori) Hobbs, and three children and their spouses from his present marriage, LeAnn (Hobbs) Larry Howard, Christopher (Amanda) Hobbs, Candy (Hobbs) and Brian Green. Also surviving is a brother David Hobbs of Columbus, Ohio, 19 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. James also is survived by several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Hobbs and a great nephew Corey Hobbs.
Funeral services will be 1 P.M. Thursday, October 26, 2006 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Reverend Paul Hamm officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park.
