James Edward Lascheck, 65
James Edward Lascheck 65 of Portsmouth, died Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at his residence. He was born September 22, 1943 in Portsmouth, Ohio. James served in the Army as a cook on the front lines, he also was a retired chef having cooked for many years at the Nellie Peck and Ye Olde Lantern. He also had worked construction in Hawaii and was a member of VFW Post 108 of Chillicothe and a recipient of the W/4 Bronze Service Stars, W/1 Oak Leaf Cluster and Rifle H-16 medals. He was a history buff and loved to attend and camp at the primitive rendezvous reenactments of the Civil War and French Indian Period. He loved Irish music and could be seen at festivals dressed in his famous Red British Officer uniform and three corner hat. He also enjoyed his hobby of painting detailed decorative works. He loved people and had many friends.
James is survived by his mother, Joyce (Sam) Grooms of Long Beach, CA, one sister; Mary Rose (Doug) McIntyre of Cypress, CA, 3 brothers; Fred (Pam) Lascheck, of Peoria, AZ, Chris (Kayleen) Lascheck of Cathedral City, CA and Jay (Carolyn) Lascheck of Costa Mesa, CA.
