James Douglas Vogelsong, 79

James Douglas Vogelsong, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away Thursday, June 10, 2021 at SOMC Hospice. He was born August 22, 1941 in Ironton to the late Carlos and Vivian Dickison Vogelsong.Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Donna Lou.

James graduated in 1963 from Pharmacy School at Ohio Northern University and went on to own and operate Vogelsong Pharmacy in Lucasville.

James is survived by his wife of 57 years, Evelyn Kay Dotson Vogelsong; 5 children, Lisa (Randy) Halcomb, Jamie (Chuck) Dettwiller, Eric (Stephanie) Vogelsong, Andrea (Dana) Jenkins, and Mallory (Derrick) Pennington; 9 grandchildren, Sydnie Jenkins, Katie Dettwiller, Victoria Vogelsong, Brendan Vogelsong, Claire Dettwiller, Seth Jenkins, Annie Dettwiller, Brooklyn Pennington, and Barrett Pennington, and 2 brothers, Dan (Loraine) Vogelsong and Tom (Freda) Vogelsong.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Scioto Burial Park with Roy Roach officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth. Condolences may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com.
