Janet Ruth Risner, 87

Janet Ruth Risner, 87, of Portsmouth, Ohio , passed away on November 27, 2014. She was born in West Portsmouth, Ohio on December 5, 1926. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Ethel Davis of West Portsmouth, brothers Nile Davis (Inez) CA. Raymond Davis of Portsmouth, OH and sister Virginia Glaze (Lawrence) Elyria, OH. Janet graduated from West Portsmouth High School in 1945. She worked at Martings Department store, Washington Local School district, the Scioto County Clerk of Courts and Common Pleas Court. She was a life time member of Nauvoo United Methodist Church, a member of Rockette Garden Club, The Scioto County Republican Club, served on the board of trustees at Forest Heights and a member and former officer of The Portsmouth West Alumni Association. Though all who knew and loved her will mourn her passing, they will also celebrate her life, knowing that her devoted faith in God has earned her eternal life in heaven.

Beloved Mother, grandmother and devoted friend, she was married to Eric Risner (deceased)for 26 years and is survived by 3 sons Stephen Risner (Deborah) Vandalia, OH, Rodney Risner (Naia) Friendship, OH , Mark Risner(Connie) McDermott, OH and daughter Jennifer Davis Grove City, OH. Janet was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; Ryan Risner Chapel Hill, NC, Dr. Seth Risner (Amy) Cole & Dean Hilliard, OH Elizabeth Naber(Jason) Ben & Sam Lewis Center, OH, Adam Risner(Lori) Gabriella, Lilly, Liam & Alec Friendship, OH, Jacob Risner (Laura) Ironton, OH, David Risner Friendship, OH, Jay Risner Detroit, MI, Jessica Risner McDermott, OH, Dr. Nathan Davis Durham, NC, Evan Davis of Williamsport, PA.. Janet is also survived by her special longtime friend Al Banester Portsmouth, OH, her best life-long friend Mary (Perry) Smalley West Portsmouth, OH and special sisters in law Sharon (Paul) Reiser of Friendship and Wylodine (Bob) Jones of McDermott.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday December 2, 2014 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Pastor Pete Shaffer officiating and interment in Memorial Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8:00 PM on Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, those who wish, may make a contributions to the Nauvoo United Methodist Church, Hospice or The Portsmouth West Alumni Association.
