Jerry Ronald Ferguson, Minister, 71 of West Portsmouth died Tuesday April 8, 2008 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born May 19, 1936 in Portsmouth to the late Vincent and Emma Jewell Ferguson. Jerry was retired from the Ohio Department of Corrections, was a minister of the Freewill Baptist faith with a Doctorate in Divinity and attended Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, 2 sisters and a grandson David Ronald Ferguson II.

Jerry is survived by his wife Rose Lee Damron Ferguson whom he married March 6, 1954, 3 sons; Brian (Robin) Ferguson of Washington Court House, David (Cheryl) Ferguson and Mark (Jeannette) Ferguson both of West Portsmouth, 1 daughter Mary Ann (Archie) Swords of West Portsmouth, 3 brothers Harold Ferguson of Florida, Carl Ferguson of Wheelersburg and Vincent Ferguson Jr. of West Portsmouth, 2 sisters; Midge Vernier of Chillicothe and Martha Pollard of West Portsmouth, 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday April 12, 2008 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Craddock Frye and Larry Hammond officiating. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8:00 PM on Friday and 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday.
