Jewell L. Distel, 83
Jewell L. Distel, 83, of West Portsmouth loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother went to be with the Lord Thursday, June 23, 2005. Jewell was born December 11, 1921 in Fleming County, KY to the late Bennie and Augusta Sherman Storey. She was a member of Dry Run Mission.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Willis Distel, Sr. who she married in Scioto County in 1937. She is survived by three sons, Gary (Jolene) Distel of West Portsmouth, David Distel of Portsmouth, and Carl (Linda) Distel of West Portsmouth; a daughter Carol Spencer of West Portsmouth; seven sisters, Wilma Moran, Brenda Byrd, Ovida Dearfield, Lillian Cox, Alice Irwin, Carolyn Chessman, and Phyllis Johnson; 2 sister-in-laws; Delphia Evans and Gladys Parks, Grandchildren Gwen Roe, Carla Hall, Michael Distel, Becky Pauley, Mark Distel, Cristy Carver, Milessa Spencer, Fred Spencer, Dwayne Distel, Darin Distel, Jennifer Mills, Cindy Piccolo, Rhonda Swords, Kay Root, Wayne Stewart, John Stewart, Scott Patton, Brian Overman; a great grandson Tyler Spears who lived with Jewell and other great grandchildren, Jessica Hall, Laura Adkins, Carrie Carver, Casie Carver, Joey Carver, Kyle Borders, Brian Borders, Sarah Distel, Nathan Distel, Kiersten Distel, Christopher Distel, Cole Distel, Gage Mills, Logan Mills, Jimmy Ramey, Adam Ramey, Breanna Stewart, Tony Root a great-great grandchild Colton Adkins and a special nephew that she raised Rick Pennington. Jewell was preceded in death by two grandsons, Keith and Danny Distel, one daughter-in-law Linda Distel, one son-in-law Fred Spencer, four sisters, Jean Frazier, Opal McWharter, Pearldean White, Delores Gillum, and two brothers Austin and Wilford Storey.
Funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Don Malone officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 4 to 9 P.M. on Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Condolences may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com.
