John William Adkins, Jr. 70

John William Adkins, Jr. 70 of West Portsmouth, died Wednesday November 19, 2014 at SOMC Hospice. He was born April 8, 1944 in Portsmouth to the late John William Adkins Sr. and Merle Ladora Grice Adkins of Columbus. John was retired from GTE and also worked for Verison. He was also United States Air Force Veteran. Along with his father John was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Carol Beamont Adkins, who he married on January 5, 1966.

John is survived by his mother, a son Wayne Adkins of West Portsmouth, 2 daughters; Jamie Adkins Frazie of Cincinnati and Susie Adkins Stone of Lucasville, a brother Mike Adkins of West Jefferson, 2 sisters; Carol Collins of Columbus and Lisa Adkins Davis of West Jefferson, 6 grandchildren; Aaron Adkins, Brandan Frazie, Jessica Adkins, Amber Stone, Blake Adkins, Kayla Adkins along with 16 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday November 25, 2014 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with George Grice officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park with graveside military rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion.
